History of Hotel Medes II
The story of Hotel Medes II is also the story of a family deeply connected to tourism, the local area, and a warm, welcoming approach. From its beginnings at Hostal Les Medes to the hotel of today, each stage has been marked by a desire to evolve, improve guest comfort, and keep alive the family essence that began in 1960.
Today, the second and third generations continue this path in l'Estartit, combining experience, adaptation and commitment to the environment.
From its origins to today's hotel
Over the years, Hotel Medes II has grown alongside l'Estartit and the evolution of tourism in the Empordà region. This timeline captures the key moments of a family project that began in 1960, took shape as a hotel in 1977, and has continued to evolve with new generations, renovations, improvements to its facilities, and an ever-stronger commitment to sustainability.
A trajectory built step by step, without losing what has always defined the hotel: proximity, family treatment and a way of receiving that is part of its identity.
THE FIRST STEP IN TOURISM
Narcís Coll and Carme Ferrer began their tourism career at Hostal Les Medes. It was the birth of the family project and their connection to tourism in l'Estartit.
A NEW PROJECT WITH ROOTS
The family acquired Hotel La Sardana and renamed it Hotel Medes II, retaining the staff, the friendly service, and many of the former guests. Improvements began, including solar thermal panels, heating, a lift, and renovations to the reception area and other facilities.
PROFESSIONALIZATION AND A NEW STAGE
With the arrival of the second generation, the hotel is making progress in management and planning. The gradual renovation of rooms and the modernization of work systems with the computerization of the hotel are underway.
