The Medes Islands archipelago is made up of seven islets blessed with enormous natural beauty that is unique in Catalonia. Highlights include its coralline walls, posidonia (or Neptune grass) meadow, underwater coves and tunnels. Diving is one of the main activities in the Medes Islands Nature Reserve and it is regulated to protect this area and the Montgrí coast. This is also an ideal location for practicing other sports such as snorkelling, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, paddle surfing or enjoying a relaxing sailing trip on one of the boats that come and go from L’Estartit’s leisure harbour.

The Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park

The Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park offers visitors 18 signposted routes to discover the area. There are spaces that can be explored on foot or by bicycle, over plains and mountains, with signposted paths of varying levels of difficulty and length. There is also a network of routes that links the area’s different towns, places of natural and cultural interest, and scenic routes which even allow you to travel from the Pyrenees to the sea, passing through the Costa Brava’s most charming spots: the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà and Cap de Creus Natural Parks, through the Pirinexus cycle-tourism network, the Ter Route, the GR-92 trail and the network of routes to follow on foot, by bicycle and car.
